Amber Holcomb and Candice Glover have to be feeling relieved right now. But maybe a little panicked, too. The two singers escaped elimination Thursday on American Idol, despite being the two singers with the lowest vote totals.
At the end of Thursday’s results show, which featured performance from former Idols Lee DeWyze and Stefano, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that no one would go home.
Why?
Because, since the show instituted its “judges’ save” a few years ago, the producers have built an extra week into the schedule. When the judges opted not to save Janelle Arthur last week, something had to happen to put the show back on track.
Therefore, Glover or Holcomb get a reprieve.
But their fans have some work to do.
This week’s votes will be combined with the totals from next week — when the musical theme will be “Now and Then” — and one singer will be eliminated.
Meanwhile, Angie Miller’s path to the finale looks clearer than ever.
