Five in a row.
One by one, this season’s American Idol viewers have let the guys go home. Thursday night, Lazaro Arbos was the final male singer eliminated, leaving five women to compete to become the first female Idol winner since Jordin Sparks.
And, based on this week’s voting, it’s anybody’s game.
Kree Harrison and Candice Glover found themselves the two top vote-getters after bravura performance. Angie Miller, long considered the front-runner, found herself in the middle of the pack, along with Janelle Arthur. And Amber Holcomb, no matter how well she performs, just can’t seem to find her audience. She found herself in the Bottom Two along with Arbos. (No worries for her, though: Jimmy Iovine called her “the total package” and told her to just keep doing what she’s been doing.)
Expect to see this group for a while. The judges’ save is still in play, but they can’t use it after next week.
So they’re all but guaranteed to use it next week — if for no other reason than to keep the season schedule on track.
